Megadeth - Countdown to Extinction - All Respect

This year 2014 again, I have this nostalgia for old Megadeth albums. I listened to all their new albums but to be honest I don't think I gave them enough time to absorb or understand. I just formed a quick judgement which is plain unfair. Hopefully I will have time soon to analyze and give them another shot.

This month I started listening again to the album 'Countdown to Extinction' released in 1992.

I have a few favorites in this great album that I'd like to share with you..

First of course is 'This Was My Life'

Other popular songs include

- Symphony Of Destruction

- Countdown To Extinction

Clearly in this album in particular there was a new approach at the time which was to focus on rhythm guitars more than lead solos and fast runs. If you listen carefully you will notice that rhythm guitars sound is very unique plus that the rhythm parts are very well composed and played containing many harmonious layers.

This was the beginning of Mustaine's trademark rhythm approach which is both sophisticated and admirable. I still wonder how he could sing along while playing those difficult riffs.

-- Enjoy!~
